Career Details
August 2001 - to date
in semi retirement acting, through my own company C.E.W Management Services Ltd., as :-
- Group Chairman (Non Exec) - The Westdale Printing Group Ltd.
The group, based in Cardiff, produces both web and flat sheet print as well as providing a variety of bindery services.
T/O circa - £15m - Group Chairman (Non Exec) - Sutton Group Ltd.
The group, based in Luton and Glasgow (Sutton Maintenance Ltd) and Newcastle and Glasgow (Sutton Services International Ltd), provides twenty four hour mechanical and electrical maintenance services together with a wide range of building Facilities Management services.
T/O circa - £16.0m - Chairman (Non Exec) - Aquastore Limited.
The company, based in Bude, provides patented equipment for cleaning, bath, shower and washing machine waste water (grey water), so that it can be reused to water gardens and flush toilets.
T/O - Start up situation. Although I resigned in November 2007, I still provide a mentoring role to the Managing Director - Associate Consultant - Pace Equity Ltd (formally The Company Exchange)
The company, based in Henley on Thames, specialises in acquisitions, disposals and mergers of businesses valued at between £1 and £20m. I am phasing out my activities with Pace Equity in order to concentrate on my Non Executive activities.
OCTOBER 1994 - AUGUST 2001
South Staffordshire Group plc (formally South Staffordshire Water Holdings)
- The Group consisted of four Divisions which provided:-
- potable water for domestic and industrial users
- utility branded home assistance services
- call centre, billing, software and mailing services and
- water and waste water services to utility and industrial clients
- Managing Director - South Staffordshire Enterprises Ltd (incorporating all of the Groups Divisions with the exception of the potable water division). Responsible for developing the groups non regulated business activities.
- Achievements- Grew the groups non water activities from start up to represent more than 50% of the groups turnover and profits. This was achieved by a combination of both organic and acquisitive growth.

The company, based in Birmingham, designed and manufactured plant and equipment for the treatment of clean and dirty water. T/O circa - £7m

- Chief Executive - The company was formed to provide Management Consultancy Services as well as Interim Management Services and business mentor/non executive support.
In October 1994 I was “head hunted” by South Staffordshire Group plc.
SEPTEMBER 1989 - FEBRUARY 1993
Bimec Water & Waste Treatment plc (the principal Division of Bimec Industries plc).
- Chief Executive - The division, which had five operating subsidiary companies, designed, constructed and installed, plant and equipment for the treatment of organic and inorganic waste and for the purification of water and air.
T/O circa - £35m. - Achievements - Grew the business from £5.0m to £35m mainly by acquiring four new companies.
AUGUST 1988 - SEPTEMBER 1989
Edward Rose Ltd (the principal subsidiary of Wagon Industrial Holdings plc).
- Managing Director - The company manufactured and manipulated rolled steel section and
supplied presswork and glazed assemblies to the automotive and
domestic appliance industries. T/O circa - £40m.

Triplex Lloyd plc
September 1986 - August 1988
- Managing Director - Engineering and Services Product Group. The Product Group consisted of fifteen widely differing engineering companies ranging from a company which manufactured precision pressings, to a company which provided metallurgical, mechanical and chemical services. Product Group
T/O circa - £26m. - Achievements - Doubled the turnover of the group by a combination of organic and acquisitive growth.
FEBRUARY 1984 - SEPTEMBER 1986
UBM Group plc
- Managing Director - TRU Architectural Products Ltd. The company manufactured aluminum and uPVC windows and doors for
the light commercial market.
T/O circa - £6.5m. - Achievements - Turned the company around from years of previous losses in to profit and instigated the sale of the company from its original
owners, UBM Group plc, to Triplex Lloyd plc.

W Cannings plc
July 1982 - August 1983
- Chief Executive - Cannings Engineering (Holdings) Ltd.The company comprised of four operating subsidiaries. The Group of companies
manufactured plant and equipment for metal finishing processes and the treatment of effluent. T/O circa - £10m.
July 1980 - July 1982
- Managing Director - W. Cannings Engineering Ltd.
The company manufactured plant and equipment for metal finishing.
T/O circa - £6.5m.
In August 1983 the company was demerged from its parent company to form Cannings Engineering (Holdings) Ltd.

Techno Pack Engineering Group Ltd
- Deputy Managing Director - The company, which was privately owned, manufactured conveyor
systems and process plant for the brewery, soft drinks and food industries.
